Welcome to the Sierra Nevada Soccer Association

The Sierra Nevada Soccer Association welcomes you to its website.  The league is comprised of adult Men's Gold, Silver and Over-45 divisions that play a year-long season starting in August and finishing in June (with a break during the winter).  The league is sanctioned by US Club Soccer.  If you have any questions about the site, please use the contact information on this website.

FALL 2020 SESSION OF 2020-21 SEASON CANCELLED BY AUTHORITIES

August 5, 2020--After a spring hiatus due to the COVID-19 field closures, SNSA was preparing to start the Fall Session of the 2020-21 season  on Sunday, August 16, 2020. Unfortunately, today Washoe County informed the league that all outdoor field permits would be suspended for adult leagues until further notice, and likely through the end of the year. A copy of that email is below.

We will look to commence play in March 2021. If anything changes in the ensuing months, we will update this site with that information.

Email from Washoe County dated 8/5/2020:

Good Afternoon,

As of yesterday, Washoe County Parks received additional direction from the Nevada Emergency Manager, Deputy Director of Covid-19 Response Team and the Washoe County Health District.

Due to a state wide increase in unauthorized competitive games and tournaments being played, the following requirements have been passed down to us:

At this time ALL adult league permits on Washoe County fields have been suspended until further notice.

All Youth Sports are to adhere to the PRACTICE ONLY requirements set forth by the Governors directives.

  1. No Scrimmages
  2. No Games
  3. No Tournaments

All leagues must adhere to the social distancing and skill drill practices set forth in the directives.  The local health department in all counties has been mandated to increase monitoring of youth sports and fields.  Any league/team that is found to be in violation of the PRACTICE ONLY policies will immediately have their field permits revoked.  Any organizations that have business licenses attached to their organization will also have them revoked.

Just in the past week, Washoe County Parks personnel has broken up 2 unauthorized competitive games on our fields.  We ask all of our leagues to monitor your teams and make sure that this does not continue to occur.  We also ask for your support in reporting unauthorized use of our fields to us as you see it.  We understand that in some cases groups that are not associated with our permitted leagues have been using Washoe County fields for their practices and games, and we are doing our best to stop those as well.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.  As always, I will keep you updated as things continue to change.  I appreciate all of your understanding in this difficult and frustrating time.  We here at Washoe County Parks truly sympathize with your families who just want to get out and play.  We look forward to a time (hopefully in the near future) when we won't have to enforce these Covid mandates any longer.

Thank you again for your understanding and cooperation,

Interested in forming a team?

The SNSA always seeks to expand its field of teams. Generally, teams seeking to join the open divisions must start in the Silver division and work up to the Gold division through our system of promotion/relegation that occurs after the end of each season.  The league reserves the right to allow a highly competitive team to join the Gold division directly.

Returning teams are given first priority in filling available spots.

If you are interested in entering a team, please contact Tom Vallas, League Administrator.
